Can explorers (i.e. us) deploy microbes on mars surface in different regions and study them?

What would the next step be if Curiosity found evidence that life did or does exist?

I was told that (aliens) & an inteligent life are underground of Mars not on the surface, & use Tunnels to get on surface if needed. How true is this info? Has the deep Holes been tested yet where to lead?
