At what point in the future is there going to be a mission to mars to collect core samples?
If samples were brought back from Mars, would all countries get access to the samples/data or whomever brought them back?
Would it be possible for a rover to take samples of Mars material and bring them to Earth?
Would there be a benefit to using probes that can grasp objects - especially with force-feedback - to allow for examination of the surface side of a sample, then turning it over to test the sub-surface side of the same object? This would allow sampling
with the impact of a drill or other device that may change the sample properties in subtle ways.
In the animation showing CHIMRA's sifting and sorting of drill samples, the mast head is turned away from the arm's actions. Is this normal, & if so, why?
Is there any way to pick up small items, such as pebbles, to place them on the deck or science area? Could the scoop be used for this?
